Last Hanz Erik & The Hims show :(

Friday night was the last Hanz Erik & The Hims show… It was a great show so at the Fine Line Music Café in downtown Minneapolis. There wasn’t as much dancing from the audience though, Cyndy and I danced to one song. I think people were somber since it was the last show, so they sat at tables or stood and soaked in all the HE&TH they possibly could. Eventhough it was the last show I enjoyed myself. Cyndy and I sat with our friends Jake and Rebbeca, so you can’t beat the company of friends and good tunes. DK was there too, but he lurked behind the soundboard the whole show. I printed and cut out all Hans’ tickets for him. He was suprised that I did that for him without asking, but I did it so that he could play “I Wish I Were Hair” from their first album. It’s Cyndy’s favorite song and our wedding recessional. It was very cool to see George the drummer and some fans rocking the HanzSolo shirts, which was the former name of the band before you know who quashed that party.

Hanz’s Message -

Well, this is it. I’ve decided to move to New York. I will miss Minneapolis and playing for all of you greatly, I have loved every minute of it, but this is a move I have always wanted to make. I will be continuing much of what I do here, there: I’m going to teach, write, and perform music. In fact, this might not be the end of the band per se, we all are going to continue promoting the music we’ve made together. And Stein, Erik, and George remain some of the best musicians I know, so anything I do I will be trying to bring them along. SO, I want to stay in touch with you as best I can. I have two exciting projects in the hopper, one being a very intimate 12-13 song solo piano/voice album and another being a very thoughtful solo production of 10 new songs. On top of that I have half an albums worth of new band material that doesn’t exist in any recorded medium yet. I will be playing a few of these tunes at my farewell show this Friday.
